A Message for Today, Uncategorized

If we are genuinely committed to God, we can stand up to opposition and examination.

Should we stay away from unbelievers? No. Although there are some places Christians should avoid, Jesus demonstrated that we must go among unbelievers to help them. But there is a difference between being with unbelievers and being one of them. Trying to be one of them harms our witness for God. Ask about the people you enjoy, “If I am with them often, will I become less obedient to God in outlook or action?” If the answer is yes, carefully monitor how you spend your time with these people and what effect it has on you.

Bible Study in Psalm 64.

Ps. 64:1

[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

Ps.140:1>Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.

Pa. 64:2>
Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

P\s. 64:3
Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

Ps.58:7>Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.

Pa. 64:4
That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

Pa 64:5
They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

Pa 64:6
They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

Pa 64:7
But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

Psa 64:8
So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

Prov.18:7>The mouths of fools are their undoing, and their lips are a snare to their very lives.

Psa 64:9
And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

Psa 64:10
The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Ps.32:11>Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.

Focus Points:   Evil can come in the form of a secret conspiracy or an ambush because Satan wants to catch us unprepared. He tempts us in our weakest  areas when we least expect it. But God himself will strike down our enemies  (Ps.64:7), whether they are physical or spiritual or spiritual.  Wickedness is widespread and affects us in many ways, but the final victory already belongs to God and those who trust and believe in him.

64:1,2  – We may believe that God wants to hear only certain requests from us. While it is true that we should offer praise, confession, and respectful petitions, it is true also that God is willing to listen to anything we want to tell him. David expressed himself honestly, knowing that God would hear his voice. God will always listen to us, and he will fully understand what we say.

verses 64:3-10  –  The words spoken against us are among the most painful attacks we may have to face. If we trust in God, these attacks will not hurt us.

Luke 18:15-17

(J) would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.  But Jesus called unto them, and said, (K) Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for (L) of such is the kingdom of God.  Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

J – Matt. 19:13> Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.

K – Prov.8:17>   I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

L – 1 Cor.14:20> Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.

Eph.4:14 – Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.

Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.

In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!

1 Pet.2:2 – Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,

Rom. 16:19 – Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.

Focus Points:

It was customary for a mother to bring her children to a rabbi for a blessing, and that is why these mothers gathered around Jesus. The disciples, however, thought the children were unworthy of the Master’s time – less important than whatever else he was doing. But Jesus welcomed them, because little children have the kind of faith and  trust needed to enter God’s Kingdom. It is important that we introduce our children to Jesus and that we ourselves approach him with childlike attitudes of acceptance, faith, and trust.

Daily Promise 7- 14 – 2018

1 Corinthian 1:27

    But God, hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Ref:

Ps. 8:2.>   Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

Matt. 11:25.>   At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.

Reflection
It is simply breathtaking to contemplate the remarkable grace of God! Amazingly, He chose men of all trades, men of low stature, men from all walks of life—He chose you! (Me) He desired those dead in their sins to be resurrected and re-created to declare His infinite glory! What a privilege! What an incredible honor to preach the good news to a dark world! May we rejoice greatly and give praise to His glorious name!

Focus Points:   Is Christianity against rational thinking? Christians clearly do believe in using their minds to weight the evidence and make wise choices. Paul is declaring that no amount of human knowledge can replace or bypass Christ’s work on the cross. If it could, Christ would be accessible only to the intellectually gifted and well educated, and not to ordinary people or to children.

A Message for Today, Wisdom For All People

Psalms 52

Dear Lord God, I want to press on to know You. I do not want to pursue after human wisdom, earthly power, or material riches. Nothing compares to knowing You. By Your grace, through the light of Your word, let me grow in knowing You, Amen.

[[To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.]]

Ps.52:1

Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.

1Sam.22:9> But Doeg the Edomite, who was standing with Saul’s officials, said, “I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelek son of Ahitub at Nob.

Focus point: This psalm was written about Doeg, the Edomet who had betrayed Ahimelech and David and then killed God’s priest (see 1 Samuel 21:7; 22:9-23) Doeg thought he was a great hero-even boasting about his deed. In reality, his deed was evil, and offense to God. It is easy to mistake “accomplishment” with goodness. Just becausesomething is done well or thooughly doen’t mean it is good (for exaple, someone may be great gambler or a sskllful liar). Measure all you do by the rule of God’s Word, not by how proficiently you do it.

Psa 52:2
Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

Ps.50:19> You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.

Prov.12:18> The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Psa 52:3
Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. Ps.59:7> See what they spew from their mouths— the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, “Who can hear us?”

Psa 52:4
Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.

Psa 52:5
God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

Prov.2:22> but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

Psa 52:6
The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:

Job 22:19> The righteous see their ruin and rejoice; the innocent mock them, saying,

Ps.58:10> The righteous will be glad when they are avenged, when they dip their feet in the blood of the wicked.

Psa 52:7
Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

Job 31:24, 25>  “If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’ if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained, Ps.49:6> those who trust in their wealth and boast of their great riches?

Psa 52:8
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

Focus Points:  With God by his side, David compared himself to an olive tree flourishing in the house of God. Not only is an olive tree one of the longestliving trees, but a flourishing tree has even greater longevity. David was contrasting God’s eternal protection of his faithful servants with the sudden destruction of the wicked (Ps.52:5-7).

Ps.92:13> planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

Psa 52:9
I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

Ps.54:6> I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good.

Psalm 121:

Theme:

We can depend upon God for help. Pilgrims must travel through lonely country to their destination; they are protected, not by anything created, but by the Creator of everything.

Focus points:
This song expresses assurance and hope in God’s protection day and night. He not only made the hills but heaven and earth as well. We should never trust a lesser power than God himself. But not only is he all-powerful, he also watches over us. Nothing diverts or deters him. We are safe. We never outgrow our need for God’s untiring watch over our lives.

verse 1 –  I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

Or, Shall I lift up mine eyes to the hills? whence should my help come

Prov. 12:21> No harm overtakes the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble.

verse 8 – The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

(8e) preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

it takes intense heat to purity gold and silver. Similarly, it often takes the heat of trials for the Christian to be purified. Day By Day by Grace

Day by day by Grace 12-12-17

Acts 20:24  (x) none of these things move me,

Rom.8:35> Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

2Cor.4:16>    For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

(y) that I might finish my course

1Cor.9:24-27>  Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

(z) and the ministry

Acts 1:17>   For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

(a) which I have received of the Lord Jesus,  to testify of the gospel of the grace of God.

Gal.1:1> Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

The Apostle Paul had a special stewardship entrusted to Him by God’s grace. “If indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you” (Ephesians 3:2). This special calling given to him by God concerned the miracle of Jew and Gentile being made one in Christ (as the body of Christ): “that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel” (Ephesians 3:6). This wondrous “mystery of Christ” (Ephesians 3:4) was a distinctive emphasis of his ministry: “Of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.” Paul repeatedly stated that this ministry calling was given to him by grace. “To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”
On other occasions, Paul spoke of his ministry without referring to this special emphasis of Jews and Gentiles becoming one in Christ. Still, he described his ministry in the same terms of grace given to him. “According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation”

(1 Corinthians 3:10). Here, Paul views his service as a spiritual builder laying a spiritual foundation for the construction of godly lives. God’s grace equipped him and sustained him in such service.
We are all called to serve our Master. In our hearts there is a desire to be used of our King. How comforting to know that our ministry will develop by God’s grace given to us. Again, humble dependence is the path to such grace for ministry. “To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given.”
Lord Jesus, I long to serve You in ministry. I rejoice that ministry depends upon Your grace, not my abilities. Lord, I humbly bow before You, seeking You for the necessary grace to serve You in any way that You desire, in Your gracious name, Amen.

Focus:   The doctrine of the trinity means that God is three person and yet one in essence. I persons of Trinity are present and active. “God is Just”

Kneel  before the LORD, our maker.

Psalm 95:6,-11>

Come , let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.   For He is our God,  And we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.  Today, if you would hear His voice, As in the day Massah in the wilderness:   “When your fathers tested Me, They tried Me,  though they had seen My work.  “For forty years I loathed that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways. “Therefore I swore in My anger, Truly they shall not enter into My rest.”

2Chr.6:13;  Dan. 6:10;  Phil. 2:10>  Now Solomon had made a bronze platform, five cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and he stood on it, “knelt on his knees in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven.  Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now in his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem). and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously.

that at the name of Jesus  EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth,

For forty years I loathed that generation,

Acts 7:36; 13:18, >  ” This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the wilderness for  forty years.  “And for a period of about forty years He put up with them in the wilderness.

Heb.3:10,17.>  “Therefore I was angry with this generation, and said,  They alwas go astray in their heart; and they did not know My ways; ? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?

Therefor I swore in My anger, they shall not enter My rest.

Heb.4:3; Deut.12:9;  Ps 94:12.  Heb.12:5;  James 1:12;  >  For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, ” As I swore in My wrath, They Shall Not enter My Rest, although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.  for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance WHICH THE LORD your God is giving you.   Blessed is the man whom THOU dost chasten, O LORD, And dost teach out of Thy laws.

He shall deliver thee in six troubles: Yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

Ps.91:10;  > No evil will befall you, Nor will any  plague come near your tent.

Prov.1:33;  2Thess. 3:3;   2Pet.2:9. Ps. 31:15.  Ps.91: 11-12>  “But he who listens to me shall live securely, and shall be at ease from the dread of evil.”

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

then the Lord knows how to rescue  the godly from temptation,  and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

My times are in Thy hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.

For he will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands,  lest you strike your foot against a stone.

Revelation 12:9 says that the Dragon, Satan, has deceived the whole world. But has the import of that really sunk in? The doubtful resistance that is in each of us does not go away easily. It remains though we are converted. It still needs to be fought and overcome.

If we do not condition ourselves to be aware and choose the right way, it will continue to exert its influence. Much can be done to lessen its influence, particularly continuing to develop our relationship with God through study and prayer.

As we exercise God’s way, the influence of Satan the Devil begins to slip. There is a negative side to this in that, as soon as his influence starts to slip away, he tries harder to ensure that it does not leave us entirely. In other words, he picks up the intensity of his pressure on us.

But do not be disheartened! I Corinthians 10:13 is still in the book. God only gives us what we can handle, and He provides a way of escape. God is always there protecting us, making sure that Satan does not increase the pressure to the point that we are unable to bear it. We can be sure that as we continue to grow, and Satan steps up the pressure, we will be equal to the task. Do we have faith in that? We had better have faith because the intensity of the pressure will get greater and greater.

A faithful man will blessed. but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

Do not word for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Live in harmony with one another. Do not be poud, but be willing to associate with people of low positio. Do not be conceithed.

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field”.

I will claim these words of Prayer.

Dear Lord of power and compassion, I magnify You for Your resurrection power. I extol You for Your matchless compassion. You have allowed me to experience these that I might grow in knowing You. Unleash Your power in my weakness. Pour out Your compassion in my sufferings. Let me know You more, through Christ I pray, Amen.

Choose a new font size and typeface

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep [you] from evil. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. (2 Thessalonians 3:3-4)

Reflection

Even as we are faithless, our Father is faithful to love us and faithful to fashion our hearts to resemble His character. From His great love for us, He is our shield and comfort in times of trials and temptations as He delivers us from the enemy. Consideration of this wonderful promise initiates our continued adoration and worship to the God of Most High.

Matthew 11:1-6

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

Mat 11:2   Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:  The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

verses 2-3 Focus points: John had been put in prison by Herod. Herod had married his own sister – in law, and John publicly rebuked Herod’s flagrant sin(14:3-5) John’s Profile is found in John 1. Herod’s Profile is found in Mark 6.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:  The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.  And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

As John sat in prison, he began to have some doubts about whether Jesus really was the Messiah. If John’s purpose was to prepare people for the coming Messiah (3:3) and if Jesus really was that Messiah, then why was john in prison when he could have been preaching to the crows, preparing their hearts?  Jesus answered John’s doubts by pointing Jesus’ acts of healing the blind, lame, and deaf, curing the lepers, raising the dead, and preaching the good news to the poor. With so much evidence, Jesus identity was obvious. If you sometimes doubt your salvation, the forgiveness of your sins, or God’s work in your life, look at the evidence in Scripture and the changes in your life. When you doubt, don’t turn away from Christ, turn to him.
